Health Safety and Environmental Officer, FMCG

This highly successful organisation within FMCG production sector is looking to recruit an Health Safety and Environmental Officer to be responsible for the management of the organisations Health Safety and Environment systems and on-going policies and deliver through inspiring others to achieve a safe and healthy place to work where accidents are as near to zero as possible.

This role will report to the HSE Manager and will be responsible for delivery and management of the companies Health Safety and Environmental systems on site, for a 24/7 production facility within the FMCG sector. As Health Safety and Environmental Officer you will be involved with a number of key responsibilities which will include:

• Driving the Safety First culture on site by inspiring others to understand the importance of safety and work in a safe manner,
• Liaise with enforcing authorities such as HSE and EHO assisting with site audits and working with them to implement key objectives / initiatives onto site,
• Maintain an up to date understanding of relevant legislation and act in a consultative manner to offer guidance to the company’s management team to ensure the company is compliant to legislation and any changes,
• Maintain regular site audits and ensure companies systems and equipment are compliant, assist regulatory authorities when conducting site visits and audits and create / manage action plans to mitigate risk of incidents.
• Maintain on-site Health Safety and Environmental monitoring software and carry out trend analysis
• Create and maintain short, medium and long term improvement plans / initiatives and implement across the site
• Develop training plans and support their implementation / delivery across the site
• Assist with the selection and management of training providers
• Management of the Risk Assessment and safe systems of work tracker
• Network within the wider group / organisation to identify and help implement best practice
• Manage incident investigations to ensure they are dealt with promptly and lessons learnt communicated within the organisation
• Be proactive to identify areas for improvement across the site and also with motoring incidents and claims
• Ensure your own training and development is maintained to perform your role and assist you with your career development plan
• Provide regular reports to the Management Team on company performance and trends

For this role you will ideally hold NEBOSH National General Certificate with strong experience of delivering Health, safety and Environmental policies into a business where you have had to work with the employee base to change the attitude towards a Safety First Environment, ideal backgrounds would be from manufacturing or engineering sectors.

You will also be self-managing, proactive and possess strong influencing skills, able to communicate at all levels within a manufacturing business to effectively influence others by winning hearts and minds through effective communication and coaching, able to analyse a process to identify it's weak points and consult with the management team to agree actions and implement change.

Remuneration for this role will include a salary in the range of £25,000 to £32,000 (Negotiable dependent upon experience), plus a benefits package including pension, life assurance, share save scheme, child care vouchers, etc. plus the opportunity to develop your skills and qualifications for the next step.
